Melissa Colby, 25, Oahu
Melissa is an 8th grade reading teacher at Waipahu Intermediate. She first fell in love with running in the rain in her hometown of Portland, Oregon. She graduated from Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, where she competed on their cross country and track teams. After college, she moved to Hawaii with her husband to Schofield Barracks. Hawaii’s beautiful scenery has been infectious and the constant stream of races has fueled her addiction to running. Since moving to Oahu in May of 2014, Melissa has not been able to resist a race, participating in 18 races ranging from 10Ks to half marathons. When she is not running up Kolekole or Peacock Flats, she is hanging out by the beach in her hammock with her nose in a book or she is paddleboarding with her husband.
